ZelIna is a dynamic and soulful pop vocalist and songwriter who hails from St. Louis. Her versatility as a musician has allowed her the opportunity to develop a unique sound that is informed by many different styles including pop, soul, R&B, world music and jazz.
Stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist over the last couple years has proven nothing less than destiny and natural for Zelina, who was given the middle name Star. She is currently involved in a variety of diverse music projects. Most exciting to her is the opportunity to focus on her strength as a songwriter and unique viewpoint on life; recording and collaborating with fellow artists and producers and, most specifically, developing her first demo of all original music with High Resolution Music Group in St. Louis. She can also be seen through ought St. Louis and the Midwest region performing as a solo artist with combos ranging from an intimate duo to a full, high energy band. Zelina also performs with several popular bands; as a lead singer of “St. Louis' number one party band”, Push the Limit, singer in Downtime and a jazz fusion project called The People's Key. She teaches private voice at the Kirkwood Music Institute as well.
In the past, Zelina has performed with many reputable bands including: The X, Slam, and as featured vocalist with two of St. Louis' most respected jazz groups: The Eric Slaughter Trio and The Marty Morrison Group Furthermore, Zena has been fortunate to perform with some of St. Louis and international greats including Vanessa Rubin, Phil Perry, Reggie Thomas, and Peter Martin.
Inspired by both her parents love for music of all styles and inclinations for singing, Zelina developed her own passion for art and music at a very young age. Naturally, she was deeply involved in theatre, dance and music both in school and the community as she grew up but Zelina really fostered her deep love for music and performing while attending the Musical Theatre Conservatory at the Chicago College of the performing arts. Deciding to focus on her true passion for singing, Zelina earned her degree in Vocal Jazz performance at S.I.U.E
With a unique look and style, Zelina commands the stage and excels as artist with her presence, knack for creating unexpected and modern arrangements, songwriting ability and passion for sharing an experience with the audience. Zelina looks forward to sharing her voice and music.
